Did you know that the average tradesperson walks up to 12,000 steps per day? And if you thought that's a lot, those in agriculture and grounds maintenance regularly take up to 14,000 steps a day, while warehouse pickers can even notch up a staggering 22,000 steps per shift. That's over 10 miles per day.

Not surprising then that when we asked foot expert and lecturer in Podiatry Emma Cowley her professional opinion on the effects of prolonged walking on your feet, she had plenty to tell us. If you walk for extended periods of time at work and end up taking thousands of steps per day to get the job done, you'll want to give this video a watch.

You'll learn about the different stresses and forces we put on our feet every day, and you'll also get some expert advice on what you can do to help some of the foot health problems caused by prolonged walking and walking pace.
