Like its predecessors, [the Bison IGS](https://v12footwear.com/products/bison-igs-black-s3-hro-src-derby-boot?_pos=1&_sid=15f0923e0&_ss=r&variant=39508828946626) features a composite midsole and toecap, providing wearers with excellent but lightweight protection from falling and underfoot objects. With an **SRC** slip rating, the safety boot offers the highest levels of slip resistance, and it also meets the high spec **S3** safety standard, packing in the following features:  - Anti-static - Heat and chemical resistant outsole to 300ª. - Water-resistant ### What other features are built INTO THE BISON? [![VR600.01 Bison IGS-1.png](https://blog.v12footwear.com/hs-fs/hubfs/VR600.01%20Bison%20IGS-1.png?width=416&height=385&name=VR600.01%20Bison%20IGS-1.png "VR600.01 Bison IGS-1.png")](https://v12footwear.com/products/bison-igs-black-s3-hro-src-derby-boot?_pos=1&_sid=15f0923e0&_ss=r&variant=39508828946626)Our in-house designer has not only been busy designing our innovative new IGS sole, but totally remodelling and modernising the uppers of our safety boots too.  The Black Bison is constructed from a polished full grain leather upper with a cut-away perforated scoop collar for easy foot access and comfort when driving. A bound bellows tongue reduces water and dirt ingress, and the boot benefits from reinforced triple stitching and a non-snagging quick and easy lacing system. Now completely [metal-free](https://blog.v12footwear.com/when-do-i-need-more-than-a-just-a-toecap-and-midsole), the Bison has reduced risk of sparking and is safe for airport and high security environments. We have also worked hard to make this an **incredibly comfortable** black safety boot. We have developed a brand new extreme comfort shape to create the footwear around, and buried a shock-absorbing heel pod in the sole, reducing impact on your knees and back. [![Energyse insole - V12 Footwear](https://blog.v12footwear.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Energyse.png?width=713&height=417&name=Energyse.png "Energyse.png")](https://v12footwear.com/products/v12-energy-return-footbed?_pos=2&_sid=82edc1d79&_ss=r&variant=39508839366850) We have also included our new Energyse insole within each boot. This high quality PU insole has a unique heel pump to channel air around the foot, reducing heat build-up. With rebound foam, the insole provides full foot cushioning and shock resistance. **All of our test pilots rated their comfort as 5/5.**  But the biggest feature has got to be the new anti-slip sole... ### The new [IGSTM sole](https://v12footwear.com/pages/igs) [![IGS sole - V12 Footwear](https://blog.v12footwear.com/hs-fs/hubfs/IGS.png?width=160&name=IGS.png "IGS.png")](https://blog.v12footwear.com/introducing-safest-sole-intelligent-grip-system)Falling from height is the biggest killer in our wearers' industries. Above and beyond the safety boot requirements, the VR600.01 Bison IGS has four strong, deep ladder grips and a well-defined heel to keep you stable and firm footed while climbing or descending ladders, and ultimately help preventing falls from height. Inspired by tyres, the sole pattern is based on small hexagons which provide multiple sharp edges to **cut through liquid and channel it away**, while the larger, self-cleaning lugs provide stability on chunkier terrains. What's more, to protect you from aquaplaning, we have designed the heel strike of this metal-free black safety boot at 7°, the angle at which most slips occur. Five angled splines provide **increased contact with the ground**, effortlessly cutting through water and dirt on every step, keeping you firm-footed and slip-free. ### Find out more Download this[**free comparison chart**](https://info.v12footwear.com/igs-comparison-charts) to find out more about all of the extra features crammed into our new IGS boots.  [![New Call-to-action](https://hubspot-no-cache-eu1-prod.s3.amazonaws.com/cta/default/2691659/cc38b465-f6ae-4e84-8cbe-b7df1ac63e70.png)](https://hubspot-cta-redirect-eu1-prod.s3.amazonaws.com/cta/redirect/2691659/cc38b465-f6ae-4e84-8cbe-b7df1ac63e70)   Share on:   [![Share on Facebook](https://static.hubspot.com/final/img/common/icons/social/facebook-24x24.png)](http://www.facebook.com/share.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fblog.v12footwear.com%2Fintroducing-new-black-safety-boot%3Futm_medium%3Dsocial%26utm_source%3Dfacebook) [![Share on LinkedIn](https://static.hubspot.com/final/img/common/icons/social/linkedin-24x24.png)](http://www.linkedin.com/shareArticle?mini=true&url=https%3A%2F%2Fblog.v12footwear.com%2Fintroducing-new-black-safety-boot%3Futm_medium%3Dsocial%26utm_source%3Dlinkedin) [![Share on Twitter](https://static.hubspot.com/final/img/common/icons/social/twitter-24x24.png)](https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?original_referer=https%3A%2F%2Fblog.v12footwear.com%2Fintroducing-new-black-safety-boot%3Futm_medium%3Dsocial%26utm_source%3Dtwitter&url=https%3A%2F%2Fblog.v12footwear.com%2Fintroducing-new-black-safety-boot%3Futm_medium%3Dsocial%26utm_source%3Dtwitter&source=tweetbutton&text=The%20Best%20Black%20Derby%20Boots%20-%20VR600.01%20Black%20Bison%20IGS) [View All Blogs](https://blog.v12footwear.com/) ### Recommended Blog Post [![](https://blog.v12footwear.com/hubfs/True%20Womens%20Fit%20BOA%20Boots%20Vanguard.png)](https://blog.v12footwear.com/v12-boa-safety-boots-comfort-and-protection-no-exceptions) #### [Comfort And Protection, No Exceptions - V12's True Women's Fit Vanguard and Valiant](https://blog.v12footwear.com/v12-boa-safety-boots-comfort-and-protection-no-exceptions) [Read Article](https://blog.v12footwear.com/v12-boa-safety-boots-comfort-and-protection-no-exceptions) [![](https://blog.v12footwear.com/hubfs/farmers%20choosing%20V12%20v2.jpg)](https://blog.v12footwear.com/why-harriet-cowan-is-among-britains-best-known-farmers-already-choosing-v12-footwear) #### [Why Harriet Cowan is Among Britain's Best-Known Farmers Already Choosing V12 Footwear](https://blog.v12footwear.com/why-harriet-cowan-is-among-britains-best-known-farmers-already-choosing-v12-footwear) [Read Article](https://blog.v12footwear.com/why-harriet-cowan-is-among-britains-best-known-farmers-already-choosing-v12-footwear) [![](https://blog.v12footwear.com/hubfs/V12%20Footwear%20at%20HSE.jpg)](https://blog.v12footwear.com/at-the-forefront-of-safety-v12-footwear-at-the-2025-health-safety-event) #### [At the Forefront of Safety - V12 at The Health & Safety Event 2025](https://blog.v12footwear.com/at-the-forefront-of-safety-v12-footwear-at-the-2025-health-safety-event) [Read Article](https://blog.v12footwear.com/at-the-forefront-of-safety-v12-footwear-at-the-2025-health-safety-event) ### Join the V12 community Be first to hear about new launches, safety know-how and the occasional offer, sent only when we've got something worth saying.
